The Apprentice - BBC series 3 - finalSimon Ambrose beats Kristina Grimes to win The ApprenticeSir Alan Sugar chose Cambridge graduate Simon Ambrose as his third apprentice, beating pharmaceutical executive Kristina Grimes in the final. Kristina was joined by previous firees Adam, Naomi, Natalie and Paul. Simon's team included Jadine, Lohit, Rory and Tre. The two teams were asked to advise Sir Alan on how to redevelop a prime piece of London real estate he had just bought next to the South Bank television studios by the Thames. Sir Alan explained that he had bought the 25 year-old building for £120 million and gave the teams three days to decide what to do with the development and prepare a presentation to 100 experts in a large conference room on the site of the old Billingsgate Market. Simon's design looked like three dinosaur teeth sticking out of the ground. Tre had suggested a design based on a ship but the model looked more like a toilet bowl. Lohit had proposed a finger shape pointing out of the ground and Rory was inspired by fountain he saw in Kew Gardens. His proposal was accepted by Simon. When the team started squabbling Simon bribed them with a trip to Barcelona if he won - they still have that to look forward. Rory also contributed to the victory with a troupe of dancing girls in flowing silks who danced to opera at the start of the presentation. Kristina's team worked together well. They didn't need to be bribed and also had useful input from Paul who is a trainee building surveyor. Kristina's design looked much classier than Simon's and it would not be surprising to see something along those lines eventually being constructed on the site. Some of the building experts at the presentations complimented the designs and the presentations. Yet another Frances ushered the teams into the boardroom on their final visit - and this time Sir Alan sent out the firees and Nick and Margaret before appointing Simon as his third apprentice. When Simon was revealed as the winner several of the Apprentice firees assembled in the studio for the recording of The Apprentice; You're Hired! on BBC Two considered walking out in protest. "Some were furious and thought that Kristina deserved to win," revealed an insider. However, it looked as if they all stayed. |
