The Apprentice - Michelle Dewberry hired now fired?

Andy Verity was on Nicky Campbell’s breakfast show on Radio Five Live this morning and spoke with Sir Alan Sugar on his mobile from a Spanish airport.

Amstrad’s electronic business has reported a profit of £20 million, a slight increase over the previous year in the twelve months up to July. Alan Sugar said he was pleased that Amstrad had done well to sustain this in a competitive market place and shareholders would benefit from the special dividend worth £30 million equivalent to the net asset value of the company.

When asked about the next series of the Apprentice, Alan Sugar said that filming for series 3 of The Apprentice hadn’t started as yet, but he was pretty sure of it being very successful, and commented that the BBC appreciated it too, having moved the programme onto BBC 1 (from its customary BBC 2 slot).

He was then asked: “ Does it really work out though for those getting through? How is Michelle getting on?"

Alan Sugar responded by saying: “We are supposed to be talking about Amstrad results now, we are not talking about not the Media career of some of the people that come off The Apprentice.”

“She was running part of your businesses wasn’t she - isn’t it marginally relevant?" asked Andy Verity in response, but before he could complete his sentence the interview was cut short by the belligerent man speeding away to catch a plane after having ended the call abruptly.

Michelle Dewberry business apprentice or media celebrity? Looks like she is only one of those.

As a last thought how much profit would Amstrad have made had Ruth Badger been hired as The Apprentice in series 2? The shareholders could well have had more reason to celebrate had she been.
