David Sneddon - page 2David wets himself David Sneddon wet his trousers before he went on stage in the Fame Academy final. He told The People newspaper: "It nearly went all wrong for me. Before I went on stage I spilt a glass of champagne on my trousers. There was this giant stain right above my knee. It looked like I'd wet myself. "Luckily my stylist cleared up the mess and it didn't show." David and the shrink David revealed that BBC bosses sent him to a psychiatrist to make sure he can cope with his newfound fame and fortune. He said: "They thought I might go mental now I'm a pop star with a big house and a fast car. "But my friends, family and girlfriend will keep my feet on the ground. Glaswegians don't let you get all big headed." David and Naomi David would never have been on the show had fellow Scot Naomi Roper not had to quit with a throat problem. He said: "I hope she's involved if there's a second show," he said. "I owe my success to her illness, which sounds terrible, but she knows I'm feeling guilty." David met Naomi in the auditions for Fame Academy and they got on really well. Jeremy Milnes has said that Naomi will be included in the next series of Fame Academy if there is one - but that is not confirmed. David on Sinead and Lemar David Sneddon was full of praise for Sinead Quinn and Lemar Obika. Remembering the very first Fame Academy show, David said: "We had a sing-off to get in. Sinead won and I went home. But I didn't feel bad and wouldn't if she had won this time. She's a great singer, as is Lemar." The neighbours One of his neighbours in the block is ITV1's Popstars: The Rivals judge Louis Walsh. A BBC spokesperson said: "It is all very embarrassing. We can't get over the irony of it. Of all the places we had to pick - although it proves that David really is getting a popstar's lifestyle on a plate!" The invitation to join Fame Academy In the first Fame Academy show David was standing in the audience and did not know whether or not he would be asked to sing to compete for the twelfth place. He was asked but lost out to Sinead who went on to the Fame Academy House later that evening. But a week later David got a surprise phone call inviting him to move in to replace Naomi, who had to quit with a severe throat problem. David said he had reservations about going on the show. He said: "It was a Sunday morning and I’d been out drinking the night before. The phone went and I woke up with a banging headache and hangover. I thought it was a dream. "I didn’t even know if I wanted to go on the programme because I watched the first show and I thought it was rubbish. "But I was fed up after years of working so hard on my music and getting nowhere so I thought, what the hell, and I went for it. Now I owe everything to Fame Academy." David and Eleanor "It's certainly been a while since I saw a decent pair of breasts," David said after the Fame Academy final - referring to the possessions of his girlfriend, Eleanor. "She has been so supportive and persuaded me to go in for Fame Academy in the first place. "I was skint, absolutely broke and I had borrowed a lot of money from her. I had already decided to go back to university. "I had been busking to earn money but she talked me into applying for the show. If it hadn't been for her I wouldn't be here." David will insist Eleanor finishes her journalism course in Edinburgh before moving into the flat in St John's Wood in London which he gets for a year as part of his prize. "It's certainly been a while since I saw a decent pair of breasts," he grinned after polling 3.44 million votes in the Fame Academy final. David and Eleanor shared a long, intimate kiss as soon as the TV cameras stopped rolling. He said: "I just want to spend some time alone with her. It's been ten weeks so I can't wait to be with her. That's natural, I think." David spoke about his new-found fame and his girlfriend, Eleanor, saying: "It's not going to change me and it's not going to change her. She added: "David is my perfect man and I'd like to spend the rest of my life with him. He may be a star in the making, but we're staying together." David said: "Girls might be throwing themselves at me, but they will do that because I am now on TV. Eleanor was there before and likes me for who I am and I appreciate that. "I can't say what will happen to me in future, but Eleanor and I won't break up because of this experience." Record Companies Stop Living the Lie David had sent copies of his song Stop Living the Lie to every major record company in the UK - all to no avail. Stop Living the Lie was released on 13th January 2003 and went straight to number one. David on Sinead "I think Sinead’s got an amazing voice, and I reckon she’s really going to go places." David and Mercury Records Mercury Records looks like one of the dozier record labels around. They waited a month after the end of Fame Academy before releasing David's single. And at the time of writing there is no mention of David on their website. |
