It's now a week since a band of ten happy campers set out into the jungle, so how has everyone fared since then? Well for a start an awful lot of creepy crawlies have had their peaceful jungle existence ruined; and Ant and Dec have seen a healthy increase to their bank balances.
As for the celebrities... they started off in two camps, home and away. Home camp was made up of a couple of actors, a tennis legend, a former police chief and a forgotten TV presenter. They all bonded immediately and appeared to having a wonderful time, possibly helped by the fact that their camp was by far the more luxurious.
The away camp - a couple of WAGS, a politician, a former boy-band member and a national institution - weren't having such a good time of it, but at least the sparks they rubbed off each other came in handy for lighting their camp fire.
After a couple of days the away camp were made even more miserable when they were flooded out by torrential rain, so the producers decided to merge the two camps earlier than they had intended, which had the knock-on effect of making the home camp almost as miserable as the aways, so now there were ten miserable celebrities instead of five.
Two new camp-mates really set the cat among the pigeons, meaning that there were now twelve miserable celebrities. The more miserable the celebrities get the better the viewers like it! This week sees the first eviction, and none of the twelve wants to be the unhappy victim. I can't wait!
