Alistair before Fame Academy

Singer/songwriter Ali G, 25, is from Castleton in North Yorkshire. He attended the auditions for Fame Academy in 2002 and in 2003.

He has worked as a milkman and studied English literature and history at university. He used to go busking when he was a student and said: "I made a bob or two out of it."

He is a Middlesbrough United fan.

His musical influences include Oasis and The New Radicals. He's had lots of performance experience and has fronted a couple of bands, he's worked as a compere and sung at a promotional event in the slipper department of a well known High Street store.

Alistair says his dream come true would be to perform on Top Of The Pops with David Brent from The Office as a backing dancer.

Richard's prediction

In the first showdown Alistair sang I Don't Want To Talk About It.

Richard told him: "It was nasal Alistair and I don't think that you will stay in. I think he will be in the last three tonight. I don't think he's got it."

Richard was wrong. Alistair was in the top ten and not in the last three.

Alistair, Richard and Patrick

The infantile spat between Richard Park and Patrick Kielty continued into the penultimate show.

Alistair had just sung Jealous Guy, demonstating just how much he had improved during his time at the academy - and positioning himself as the only possible contender capable of snatching the crown from Alex in the final.

Richard had, of course, missed Alistair's rapid development. "Dull, bland, uninspiring, adenoidal," he intoned.

Patrick interrupted: "But that's enough about you. Let's talk about the song."

Is Alistair sexy?

Paddy and Cat appeared on Claudia's show in the penultimate week.

"Is Alistair sexy?" Paddy asked both the women.

"I think he'd be quite good at all of that - because I think he'd be grateful," blurted out Claudia.

Cat's jaw fell open when she heard what Clauudia had said.

Claudia said apologetically: "Did I just say that out loud? I'm so sorry."

Paddy added: "Would the nose not get in the way?"

Claudia replied: "That could also be useful."

Alistair and James on Louise

"It's hard to see past she's got a famous boyfriend and a racing-car driver. She's really nice," said Alistair.

"There's that softness about her. Do you think you'll propose?" asked James.

"I think I'll do that right now," replied Alistair, getting up and walking towards the house.
