I'd do anything semi-final: and then there were three

It was decision time in Nancy-land, and the last time for Andrew Lloyd Webber to put his foot down as next week is the final in which the public will decide. The Sunday night result show started out with a short version of "Food, glorious Food", in which we saw all 12 Olivers singing along. After that of course a recap of what had been happening last night; we saw Rachel being ecstatic because of her good comments and Jessie saying that if she should go out she'd be proud of herself leaving with the performance she had just done.

Of course there was a Nancy mission. The girls had to spend the night in an old house with no electricity, and to make matters worse when waking up they found Barry Humphries sitting there in a robe... There was actually a reason for this, as they had to recite the words of "As long as he need me" to him. Barry was very touched by Rachel's performance, but not by Jodies even though she was very emotional. He also stated Jessie did well and Samantha at first seemed to "parrot" the words but became much better later on.

To commemorate their step back in time, the girls followed with a group song of "A Hard Day's Night" in which especially the red panties stood out. The three chosen Olivers sang "Where is Love" and there is no doubt they will make fabulous leading men, or should we say leading boys?

Finally it was time for the dreaded results. John and Denise said Jessie was not their Nancy while Barry and Cameron Mackintosh chose Jodie. What a surprise when neither of them were in the sing-off! Instead it was Rachel and Sam, who had to sing "Memories" from Cats. They both did very well, even though they had to sing big parts of the song together, which made it rather difficult to compare. But Andrew Lloyd Webber probably did not need this sing-off to make up his mind anyway; even though he did say it was a difficult decision, he chose to save Samantha. His main reason for this was that he had to consider the direction that Cameron Mackintosh wanted to go in with his production, from which we can derive that he probably wants a younger Nancy.

Next week is the final and we can safely say that Jodie and Jessie seem to have the largest public support. Nevertheless it is still very unclear as to who will eventually win the role of Nancy. Just 6 more nights; meanwhile come and give us your thoughts on our forum!
