MasterChef: The Professionals

MasterChef: The Professionals, the latest series in the MasterChef family, is looking for a young but experienced chef who has the talent, style and desire to make it to the top - Michelin standard.

The format is broadly similar to other MasterChef titles and follows the usual pattern of daily heats. Thirty-three of the hopeful young chefs will fall by the wayside leaving three finalists to cook for some of Europe's finest chefs, including Alain Roux and Pierre Gagnaire - not to mention a couple of real Michelin inspectors.

In a welcome departure from the MasterChef norm Michel Roux Junior joins Gregg Wallace in place of John Torode, and his quiet passion (and his two Michelin stars) must surely do more to inspire the young hopefuls than any of John Torode's shoutiness ever could.
