Strictly Dance Fever - final

Darrien and Hollie win Strictly Dance Fever

Darrien and Hollie won Strictly Dance Fever beating Darren and Lana into second place.

They win a £50,000 prize and will join the cast of Footloose in the West End.

Darrien and Hollie scored tens from all four judges for both of their dances in part one of the Strictly Dance Fever final.

Even Arlene Phillips was full of praise, creating a new metaphor when she gushed: "You melt into each other arms like whipped cream and hot chocolate."

Their energetic showdance was also praised by the judges.

Ben Richards told them: "That was like canned heat."

Wayne Sleep said: "That was fearless. The best choreography of the competition."

Darren and Lana also scored tens from all the judges with their first dance, the flamenco.

Arlene Phillips thought their showdance was "sleazy" and only gave them five points. The other judges disagreed with her and awarded them nines.

Ben and Stephannie who found themselves in the bottom two in the semi-final were also outclassed in part one. But they did score nines from all the judges for their lindy hop.

However, their showdance looked a bit chaotic and they only received eights from the judges.

After the break the viewers votes were combined with the judges' points and Ben and Stephannie were voted out.

Both Darren & Lana & Darrien and Hollie then danced the guapacha although the judges did not score the performances.

Graham Norton then announced that Darrien and Hollie were the winners of Strictly Dance Fever, beating 70,000 people who had come along to the auditions. Over two million votes had been cast during the evening.

Update: Darrien and Hollie were background dancers in a West End production of the musical Footloose for a week in July 2006.
