Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II was in Portsmouth Naval Base today to meet the crew and families of the type 23 Frigate, HMS Lancaster.
The current HMS Lancaster is the sixth to bear the name and was launched in 1990 by Her Majesty the Queen in her official role as Duke of Lancaster.
While in Portsmouth, the Queen inspected the Royal Guard and attended a reception for the ship's company and their families, Her Majesty also had lunch on board HMS Lancaster with the commanding officer and a selection of the crew.
The Queen last visited HMS Lancaster in March 2004.
HMS Lancaster is to be deployed to the Caribbean later this month to replace HMS Iron Duke in the North Atlantic Patrol Task duties.
