Letizia, Princess of Asturias, is expecting a baby girl

Letizia, Princess of Asturias, is expecting a girl. The baby, due in the spring, will be Prince Felipe's Letizia's second child.

Felipe's and Letizia's first child, HRH Infanta Leonor, was born on 31st October 2005.

During Letizia's first pregnancy no announcement was made on the sex of the baby and this is the first time that such an announcement has been made by the Spanish royal family. The news may put on hold the debate in Spain about who will have a senior claim to the Spanish throne if the couple have a son.
