Most of the work done by the Prince of Wales was in aid of the 360 or so organisations associated with the Prince as well as The Prince's Charities, a charitable enterprise which raises over £100 million each year.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have shown no sign of decreasing their workload, both in their 80’s still undertake hundreds of engagements in the United Kingdom and overseas.

Her Majesty the Queen carried out several overseas visits in 2006 – in March she was on a Commonwealth visit to Singapore after being in Australia to open the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. Official State Visits were paid to the three Baltic States of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in the autumn.

As a Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, the Duke of York undertook over 230 overseas official engagements in several countries including the United States, Canada, Mongolia, Kuwait, Vietnam and more recently, the Philippines – most of these engagements were to promote international trade and encourage overseas investment in the United Kingdom.
