Princess Anne to visit ChilePrincess Anne, the Princess Royal is set to visit Chile on 22 of January 2007 for a four day long official visit aimed at further improving relations between the United Kingdom and Chile. The Press and Public Affairs Officer of the British Embassy in Chile said the visit was “a gesture of goodwill in terms of fostering relations with Chile, which are already very good.” Her Royal Highness will arrive at the City of Punta Arenas where she will meet members of the Anglo-Chilean community in the Chilean Antarctic Institute. President Bachelet of Chile will officially welcome the Princess Royal to Chile on 23 January 2007 – The President will meet Her Royal Highness in a private audience and later host a dinner in honour of the Princess’s visit to Chile. Other engagements include onsite visits to social programmes sponsored by the British government, a visit to the new headquarters of the 14th Fire Company in Santiago and attend a fund raising event to help a group of Scouts from low income families fund their plans to attend the World Jamboree in the United Kingdom in July 2007. Programme of engagements: -------------------------------- -------------------------------- A visit to the Valparaiso's Navy Museum has been scheduled as well as a visit to the Mackay British School in Viña del Mar which is celebrating its 150th anniversary – the school is Chile's oldest Anglo-Chilean educational institution Layer, Her Royal Highness will visit the Paicabí centre – a charitable organisation which assists children that have been victims of different types of abuse.
