King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía inaugurate monument commemorating victims of Madrid train bombs

King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía inaugurated a glass monument outside Antocha station commemorating the victims of the train bombs in Madrid on 11th March 2004. Prime minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and opposition leader Mariano Rajoy also attended.

The event was marked without speeches and in silence with the exception of the playing of El Canto de los Pájaros (The Singing of the Birds) by Pau Casals played on the cello by Antonio Martín Acevedo.

It is possible to go inside the monument but only from within Antocha station. The monument itself does not have access from the street.
