In Pictures: Prince William joins the RAFPrince William joined the Royal Air Force on 7 January 2008, and is expected to be ‘fast-tracked’ through the six-long-course intensive flying course in just four months. He is following in the footsteps of his grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh, his father the Prince of Wales and his uncle the Duke of York who all qualified as pilots in the British Armed Forces. While serving in the Royal Air Force, Prince William will be officially known as Flying Officer H.R.H. Prince William, though unofficially he will be referred to just as Flying Officer Wales.
Prince William can expect to fly Tornado GR4 and Eurofighter Typhoon jets upon successful completion of his four-month-long course with the Royal Air Force. |
