Sweden's King turns 60

King Carl XVI Gustaf will turn 60 on 30 April, in a recent interview the King said: “'The good thing is you don't have to pretend to be a teenager any more. For instance when you are working out, you don't have to rush but can take it a little easy, with some style.''

Many Swedes have praised the King for being a unifying symbol.

The King will celebrate his birthday over two days, with members off other European royal houses due to arrive. In addition to official receptions the King will meet with youths at a workshop.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and other members of the Swedish royal family will attend a service at the Royal Chapel on April 30 in celebration of the King’s 60th birthday.

Parts of the birthday events will be broadcast live by the Public Service Broadcaster, on Sunday, April 30th.
