Daniel Pearce was confirmed as one of the members of One True Voice on the Popstars: The Rivals show on 23rd November.
Daniel is adopted and says: "I used to look in the mirror and think ‘who am I?' and ‘where does my love of music come from?'"
When he was 18, and legally old enough to contact his natural mother, Daniel went in search of her.
And when he found her it answered all his questions. She is a session vocalist called Maryanne Morgan, who has also written hits for Liberty X and Mis-Teeq.
Maryanne has sung with artists including Ray Charles and Roachford.
And, apart from succeeding in the ITV1 show, Daniel has another dream - to write and perform a hit with his mum.
Daniel was born in Maidstone, Kent, but was given up for adoption by Maryanne when he was just six weeks old. He knows little about his Nigerian father, who left the country before he was born.
Daniel said of his first meeting with Maryanne: “It was so weird, but at the same time not a surprise at all - like I’d found a missing part of the jigsaw puzzle. I felt complete."
