Love, requited - the saga of Harry and Chelsy

She broke his heart, and then broke into tears. The five year romance between Chelsy Davy and Prince Harry has now come to an end.

Unconfirmed, though widely accepted rumors allege that Harry and Chelsy met in Argentina in 2004 while Harry was on his gap year. They started dating later that year after reconnecting in Africa. Harry eventually went back to England to start his military career, and Chelsy returned to South Africa to pursue her education. The couple maintained a long-distance relationship until Chelsy finished her Commerce degree at Cape Town University. Shortly after graduating in 2006, Chelsy made the move to the UK, to study Law at Leeds University.

The move to the UK was quite substantial - a clear indication that she was ready to take her relationship with Prince Harry to the next level. Leaving the home she loved for the cold, dreary weather of the UK, Chelsy seemed very willing to make sacrifices in the name of love.

One thing she has now proven unwilling to sacrifice however, is time. According to unnamed friends of Chelsy, the reason behind this split is the lack of time they get to spend together, and the amount of time Harry has to commit to the military. Last week he began training with the Army Air Force, to train as a helicopter pilot in the hope of seeing front-line action again before his military career is over. Harry made it quite clear to Chelsy that during this training, he would have very limited time for socializing - Chelsy was not happy at the idea of coming second to his military career.

Chelsy will soon be finished with her Law degree and will, no doubt, be ready for a more serious relationship. With Prince Harry clearly living on a different time-table, a decision had to be made. Would Chelsy sit back and wait for her lover to be ready to make a commitment, or would she cut ties now and find a more compatible partner? While it looks like Chelsy has made her choice, only time can tell if she will really stick to it.
