Queen Elizabeth goes to GoogleQueen Elizabeth learned how to use the internet two years ago and today she visited the Google office in London, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh. Nikesh Arora, president of Google Europe, Middle East and Africa, showed the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh around his company's UK headquarters in Victoria, conveniently located near Buckinghamm Palace. Mr Arora said: "She did seem very very interested in everything going on. She has used YouTube and has her own Royal Channel and understands what our products are about." In honour of her visit, the Queen's image is included in today's Google doodle on the Google UK homepage.

The Duke of Edinburgh was shown an image of Buckingham Palace and he then asked the Google executives if they could show him image of their own office. “Do you know where it is?” he asked cheekily. A couple of clicks on a mouse, and moments later the image on the computer screen had moved the few hundred yards from the Palace to Belgrave House, 76 Buckingham Palace Road. But there was no building there, just an empty building plot. The picture had been taken before the office block was built. |
