Strictly Come Dancing - Phil Daniels is the first to dance into the sunset

Phil Daniels together with his partner, last year's finalist Flavia Cacace, became the first celebrity to be voted off Strictly Come Dancing this evening. In a dance-off against Don Warrington and Lilia Kopylova, Phil's waltz again looked stiff, wooden, graceless and lacking in confidence, whilst although Don made many mistakes in his cha-cha-cha, he has the benefit of natural rhythm and was more entertaining overall. Flavia was allegedly in tears after the vote but unfortunately that's the way this show goes and not every professional can have an able partner every year.

Overall, I think it was the right bottom two - possibly Gary Rhodes should have been there instead of Don, but was probably saved by the popularity of professional partner Karen Hardy who has become a star in her own right since winning Strictly two years ago with Mark Ramprakash.

Next week the celebrity girls are going to try to show the boys how it should be done by dancing either a salsa or a foxtrot. In the meantime you can continue to discuss the show in our Strictly Come Dancing forum
