MasterChef

25 year old Derek Johnstone from Erskine, Renfrewshire, was tonight declared the winner of the first ever series of MasterChef: the Professionals.

It's finals week for the young professional chefs and the thirty-six chefs who set out with high hopes have been whittled down first to six and now to the final three chefs.

There are three very different TV programmes currently showing, each of them fronted by a Michelin star chef and each of them aimed at the young professional or gifted amateur chef whose dream is to open his or her own restaurant. There the similarity ends.

MasterChef: The Professionals, the latest series in the MasterChef family, is looking for a young but experienced chef who has the talent, style and desire to make it to the top - Michelin standard.

In what has been probably the best final of Celebrity Masterchef since the show began Liz McClarnon triumphed over Andi Peters and Mark Moraghan to take the title of Celebrity Masterchef 2008.

It's a year later and once again John Torode and Gregg Wallace are back on our screens with another bunch of C- to Z-listers hoping to follow in the footsteps of previous winners Matt Dawson (2006) and Nadia Sawalha (2007) to become Celebrity Masterchef 2008.
