Succession to the British throne

What a load of rubbish, the press has now hit a new low on publishing rubbish to sell their stories. All this 'I plan to make Camilla my Queen' is all rubbish, Prince Charles knows perfectly well that Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall (officially the Princess of Wales, yes people… she is the Princess of Wales if we go by the laws and conventions governing the Monarchy!) will be Queen once he ascends to the British and Commonwealth thrones, so there is no need for plots which in turns puts the people publishing these stories in a rather stupid position.

Attending her second royal wedding sans Prince William Kate Middleton seems to be getting into the royal swing of things. Or at least her skirt certainly has.

Courtiers are beginning the process of finding Prince William a future role as he begins the long wait for the throne.

Prince William and Prince Harry have confirmed plans for a concert to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the death of their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales and to celebrate her life.

The Concert for Diana will take place at Wembley Stadium on 1st July 2007, when Diana would have turned 46. The new national soccer stadium is still being built in north London.

Queen Elizabeth II will stay on the throne until death, her cousin has said, ruling out any chance of an abdication or retirement.

Lady Margaret Rhodes, who is a cousin of the Queen was talking to the BBC and said that the Queen’s vows at her coronation to reign for the rest of her life were important.

Could Prince William marry a Catholic?

The relevant law in this context is the Act of Settlement of 1701. It may be over 300 years old but it is still in force, even though all or most other anti-Catholic legislation has been repealed in the UK.

Bookies were backing Prince William to succeed Queen Elizabeth II to the British throne.

The odds on Prince William becoming Britain's next king instead of his father have been halved after the Queen spoke of her resolve to continue to serve.
