Cirque de Celebrite

The Sun reports that Apprentice star Katie Hopkins has been asked to appear in the next series of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

After ten weeks and the elimination of 9 of the 12 original contestants the Grand Final was finally here with Kenzie, Emma B and Grace Adams-Short battling it out for the Cirque de Celebrite winner's crown - well trophy.

As we reached semi-final stage one of our celebs finally achieved a perfect 10 from all three judges but it wasn’t Grace as we might have expected, rather young pretender Emma B. The perfect score came for her performance on the cloud swing, a discipline that she was dreading as she has been injured on it before and was still covered in very nasty bruises. She needn’t have worried as the judges loved her and gave her full marks.

With only two weeks to go until the Grand Final, the competition continues to heat up, particularly between the last two girls – Grace Adams-Short and Emma B. Once again there were two disciplines to attempt tonight, the Russian Swing and a choice of either the Aerial Hoop, Corde Lisse, or Aerial Straps – with this second discipline being chosen for each contestant by the judges. The Russian Swing is one of the most dangerous apparatus in the circus, weighing over half a tonne, with consistency and timing vital when performing on it. How would the celebrities handle it?

We are now down to the final 6 celebrities and tonight saw them all facing two disciplines - the advanced low wire and motorcycle trapeze - and the strain is starting to show as the disciplines are getting harder. The two contestants feeling it more than most were Andy Kane who was injured the week before and is still in pain and Lee MacDonald who was brought back, after being voted out two weeks previously, to replace Sophie Anderton.

I have to say it was hardly a surprise that Sophie Anderton walked out this week. Over the previous weeks she seems to have upset her fellow contestants and the trainers with her lack of commitment and two of the three judges haven't particularly rated her. Comments about her this week included 'If we all acted like Sophie there would be no show on Sunday' and 'She has no respect for anybody and behaves like a spoilt brat'.

The celebrities were purely airborne this week with the girls on the aerial straps and the boys on the swinging trapeze. The swinging trapeze requires strength, agility and grace and has the scope for more tricks than the static trapeze whilst the aerial straps is all about strength, elegance and sensuality.

There was a surprise this week as recent ejectee Syed Ahmed was drafted in to serve as a stand-in judge for one week only. As far as I could tell, his only credentials were the two weeks he spent on the show – and his marking and comments generally showed that. The three disciplines our celebrities were attempting were the cloud swing, bolas and unicycle. The hardest of these was declared to be the unicycle, which is known in the trade as the ‘coccyx crusher’.

The celebrities were this week showing us their best in one of three disciplines – the aerial hoop, bungee or rola rola. Once again there were a mix of performances with some being outstanding and some frankly poor. Sophie Anderton was apparently unwell but there had also been complaints that she wasn’t turning up for training enough.

This week we saw the contestants showing off their skills, or lack of them, on either the corde lisse or low wire. They were a mixed bag tonight with Sinitta and Grace Adams-Short particularly shining on the corde lisse and Emma B on the low wire. Those the judges didn’t rate included Syed Ahmed who was accused of arrogance.
