Student Princess: Beatrice of York begins her studies

Princess Beatrice, the eldest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York, has begun a 3-year course at the University of London's Goldsmiths College where she will read History of Ideas. The 20 year-old Princess spent her Gap Year traveling in South America, Europe and Asia. She also spent time gaining work experience at London's Selfridges where she was an (unpaid) Personal Shopper for the store's VIP clients. Beatrice also gained royal experience by accompanying her parents to a number of charity and royal events.

After an unsuccessful attempt to find suitable student digs for herself Queen Elizabeth gave Beatrice an apartment in St James Palace, the former home of her uncle Prince Charles. It was rumoured that Beatrice chose to study at Goldsmiths College in order to be closer to her boyfriend, Dave Clark. Mr Clark, who holds dual American and British nationality, was introduced to Beatrice by her cousin Prince William.

In spite of her difficulties with dyslexia, Beatrice did well on her A levels earning an A in drama and Bs in history and film studies. While at Goldsmiths Beatrice will further her studies in history by focusing on the role philosophy has played throughout world events.
