The X Factor 2008 - the over 25s, Rachel Hylton, Ruth Lorenzo and Danny EvansDannii Minogue, last year's winning judge, looks to have a tougher job on her hands this year mentoring the over 25s. Yesterday we saw her final six singing at her home in St Tropez and it was always going to be a tough decision, particularly between the two 25 year-olds, Ruth Lorenzo and Suzie Furlonger. Both had showed great potential but I suppose we always knew Suzie was going to lose out - she was barely shown in the audition stages and was a bit of an unknown quantity to the viewers. But Ruth, despite falling apart emotionally on yesterday's show, was put through to the live shows. She will be joined by widower Daniel Evans who, whilst being a very likeable person, I feel will struggle on the live shows, but time will tell. Dannii's third hope is 26 year-old single mum and former drug addict Rachel Hylton, who is already attracting controversy in the press with her outspoken nature and claims of continued drug abuse. I hope she can override these problems, or otherwise I fear the public will not warm to her and she will lose out on votes despite her powerful voice. Failing to make the grade along with Suzie were 48 year-old Louise, who never really looked like a contender, particularly after messing up spectacularly in last night's programme, and former pro-golfer James, who did a good job of singing Mr Bojangles last night but failed to impress Dannii enough. So you can see Ruth, Rachel and Daniel in next Saturday's live show and meanwhile you can discuss the show in The X Factor forum. |
